The Diamond Point System

The LeaderShape Institute is an opportunity available to those students that have demonstrated a commitment to developing their leadership potential and putting those talents in to action. To become eligible for application to the LeaderShape Institute, you must acquire 50 Diamond points by participating in programs offered through the Temple University Student Leadership Challenge. These Diamond Points may be earned through participation in any combination of the programs listed below, and may be accrued throughout your undergraduate experience.

Full Day Participation. You may earn up to 30 points for attendance to both the Fall and Spring Student Leadership Conferences.

Emerging Leaders Seminar

7-Session Participation

Leadership Studies Academy

Successful completion of designated course, essay and meeting with the Academy Coach.

Exploring Leadership Series

5 per session

Participation in one 90 minute session. You may earn up to 30 points through this program.

Service Leadership Project

Participation in year-long service immersion experience

Experiential Leadership

A meeting with an Experiential Coach and written essay are required to earn points for experiential leadership.

Leadership Skills Workshops

3 per session

Participation in one 60 minute workshop. You may earn up to 21 points through participation in these workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any particular way I must earn my 50 diamond points to be eligible for the LeaderShape Institute?
No. You may earn your 50 Diamond Points through any combination of these components of the Student Leadership Challenge.

If I receive 50 diamond points, am I guaranteed a space at the LeaderShape Institute?
No. 50 Diamond Points makes you eligible for the LeaderShape Institute. After you have received 50 Diamond Points and completed the corresponding information in your LeaderShape application, you will have the opportunity to present your leadership experiences to a Selection Committee. This committee will select the students who will attend the LeaderShape Institute, as it is limited to 60 participants.

If I complete half of a particular program (i.e. Student Leadership Conference, Emerging Leaders Seminar, Service Leadership Project), will I receive half of the Diamond Points for that component?
No. Diamond Points are awarded only after successful completion of a program.
