If you are having sex, you should plan for birth control. If the condom broke or slipped during sex or if you did not use birth control during sex, you can use emergency contraception, also called “the morning after pill”.
Emergency contraception is not as effective as birth control pills taken every day. Emergency contraception does not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases. The sooner it is used after unprotected sex, the more effective it will be.
If you need emergency contraception, call 215-204-7500 to schedule an appointment with a nurse at Student Health Services.
Emergency contraception, Plan B, is available in a pharmacy without a prescription if you are over the age of 17. The Rite Aide Pharmacies near campus at Broad and Susquehanna Streets (open 24 hours) and Broad and Oxford Streets have Plan B for purchase.
More information on emergency contraception is available at:

Additional sites where emergency contraception may be obtained are available through the CHOICE hotline. Call 215-985-3300 in Philadelphia or 1-800-848-3367 outside the Philadelphia area for more information.
