Templar
About Templar
Templar, Temple’s annual undergraduate yearbook, recently published its 85th volume in 2009. The book, entitled In Retrospect: 125 Years, celebrated Temple’s 125th anniversary. The 200-page book documented student life, academics, student organizations and athletics. Additionally, 1,639 seniors were photographed for the 2009 book, marking a 39 percent increase from 2008.
History
With the exception of a three-year period from 1997-1999, Templar has always been a hard cover book since its inception in 1924. After three years as a soft cover book, Templar went to an 8 ½ by 11 hardcover book in 2000 before growing to a 9 x 12, 192-page book in 2005. The 2006 academic year marked the first of three consecutive books that would garner Templar a national first place award from the American Scholastic Press Association. The 2009 Templar is also under consideration for an ASPA award.
Staff
The 2010 Templar staff will be led by Editor Jared Vanderzell and Assistant Editor Leah Stoner. Vanderzell served as Templar’s assistant editor in 2009, and Stoner was the book’s student life editor.
