About: John Terlecki is Temple University's Student Media Graduate Extern. He advises The Temple News (Temple's student newspaper), Templar (Temple's yearbook) and WHIP (Temple's student-run Internet radio station). He came to Temple in 2007 after receiving his bachelor's degree in Journalism from Penn State. While attending Penn State, he was a member of ComRadio, Penn State's new student-run Internet radio station for three years. While working at ComRadio, he hosted a semiweekly sports-talk show and was a play-by-play and color commentator. He became one of ComRadio's co-Sports Directors and was one of 10 student leaders at the station.
After leaving Penn State and ComRadio in the spring of 2007, Terlecki came to Temple to pursue a master's degree. He is still enrolled and expects to graduate in the spring of 2010 with a Master of Journalism. While at Temple, he has worked as an adjunct professor in the Journalism department in the School of Communications and Theater, teaching four semesters of Audio/Visual Newsgathering as a lab instructor. He is also the teacher's assistant for the class. He has an intimate knowledge of new media technology and software and has used this knowledge to help students become well-rounded journalists. He began his work as Graduate Extern in the fall of 2008, where he has assisted John Di Carlo, the Student Media Program Director, with the growth of WHIP. He is a strong student media advocate and has worked very hard along side students to improve the quality of all three media outlets.
