Main Campus Parent Orientation:

The Office of Orientation offers optional one-day Parent Orientation Sessions during the summer months for parents of incoming students. Parent Orientations occur on the first day of the student orientation sessions.

Dates:

June 27, July 8, July 11, July 15, July 18, July 22, July 29, August 1

Parent orientations are not available in conjunction with the August 15-16 or August 21-22 student orientation sessions.

Fee:

There is a $25 per person fee to attend Parent Orientation. The fee will be charged to the student's Fall semester bill in August. We do not accept cash, checks, credit cards, or any form of payment before or during the program.

Registration for Parent Orientation will close 3 business days prior to the date of the event. Parent registration occurs on a first-come first-serve basis and may close earlier then 3 days before the session if maximum capacity is reached.

Cancellation:

We accept cancellations (with full refund) up to 72 hours/3-days prior to the date of the program. To cancel Parent Orientation registration, please email parents@temple.edu and include in the email the parent's name(s), the student's name, and the student's 9-digit TUID number.

*The June 27 parent orientation will be held in room 200C.

The Parent Orientation schedule will be available soon. Please check back in mid-May.

Parking:

Please park in the Liacouras Garage when attending Parent Orientation. The entrance to the garage is located on 15th Street, between Cecil B. Moore and Montgomery Avenues. Parking in the Liacouras Garage is included in the Parent Orientation fee for parents who are registered to attend. If you did not register for the Parent Orientation program or you park in a campus lot other than Liacouras Garage you will be responsible for paying for your own parking costs.

 

Parent Orientation Frequently Asked Questions:

• Why is there a fee for Parent Orientation?

  The $25 Parent Orientation fee covers parking ($15), breakfast and lunch ($7), and costs of running the program ($3), including room and technology rentals, staffing, and publications.

• Do I have to attend the Parent Orientation date that coincides with my student's orientation date?

  Parents do not have to attend the orientation that corresponds to their student's orientation. Parents can attend any of the Parent Orientation dates.

• Is housing provided for parents attending the Parent Orientation?

  Housing is not available for parents attending a Parent Orientation program. Please visit the Resources page for hotel information.

• Can we see our student's residence hall room, or other residence hall rooms?

  Many current students, summer camps, and other programs are occupying the residence halls during the summer. Parents will not have the opportunity to view residence halls during Parent Orientation. To view residence hall rooms, please attend a campus tour through the Welcome Center (215-204-4617), or take a Virtual Tour of the residence halls!

• Will I have an opportunity to eat in the dining hall?

  Yes, parents will eat lunch in the main university dining hall. This is a traditional buffet style dining facility.

• Will I have the opportunity to talk to my student's academic advisor? Can I assist my student in class registration?

  During Parent Orientations, the academic advisors are advising students attending the student orientation program. Parents will not be permitted to attend their student's advising session or assist in the registration of classes. • How many parents attend Parent Orientation?

  About 25% of new students' parents attend a Parent Orientation program. This is an optional program for parents who want a broad overview of services and programs available to their students. If you have already attended Temple's Open House or Experience Temple Day, the Parent Orientation may contain similar information.
