How can I see or confirm my registered orientation date? How can I check that I registered for orientation correctly?
To confirm your orientation date, or to make sure you are registered correctly:
- Log in to TUPortal
- In the MyPortal tab, select 'Self-Service Banner'
- Select 'Student' Tab
- Select 'Registration'
- Select 'Student Roster'
- Select 'Spring 2015' or 'Fall 2015 Orientation Term' from the drop down menu
- Your orientation date will display.
- If you do not see your orientation date, or it says 'No schedule available for selected term' you did not register correctly
I did not receive a confirmation email when I registered for Orientation?
A confirmation email is sent to student's Temple TUMail email account 24-48 hours after registration in TUPortal. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 48 hours, you may not have registered for orientation correctly. Please use the steps above (FAQ #1) to double check your registration, or call the Office of Orientation at 215-204-8531 to confirm your registration. Students will also receive a reminder email 5-7 business days prior to their registered orientation session with information about parking, check-in, check-out, and what to bring.
How can I prepare for placement testing?
The Placement Testing website has more detailed information about the Math, English, and Foreign Language Placement Tests. The Placement Testing website does not contain the link to the Online Placement Testing system. You must receive the link to the Placement Tests in an email from the Office of Orientation or through the Next Steps Channel in TUPortal.
When can I complete my placement tests?
The online placement testing system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week beginning in November (for spring students) and April (for summer and fall students). We strongly recommend you complete the placement testing as soon as possible.
Can I fail the placement tests?
Students cannot fail placement tests, but doing well may reduce the number of courses needed for your degree. The results may be used to place students into the appropriate course level for English, Math and Foreign Language courses.
When do I receive my placement testing results?
Students will receive the scores for the Math and English placement tests in separate emails to their TUmail email account. The time it takes to receive your scores will vary greatly, and will depend upon when you completed the test. Please allow 1-2 months to receive your scores. Students can also ask their Academic Advisor for their score when they attend New Student Orientation.
How do I request accommodations for placement testing and orientation?
If you require accommodations for placement testing and/or orientation, please read the Students with a Disability website and follow the instructions for receiving accommodations PRIOR to completing your placement testing or attending your orientation session.
Do students admitted into the University Honors Program or the Russell Conwell Center Program have to complete the Placement Tests?
Yes, all incoming freshmen students must complete the Placement Tests. The scores on your tests will not change your admission status into the Honors or Russell Conwell Center programs.
