Temple Towers

The Office of Facilities Management is coordinating extensive renovations in Temple Towers during the summer of 2009.  The entire building will benefit from building system upgrades, expansion of public space and new furniture, fixtures and amenities.

The most significant changes will be the installation of a fire suppression system, i.e. sprinklers, and converting the heat and air conditioning to a central system supplied by Temple’s Physical Plant.  The current configuration has “stand alone” heating and AC units in each apartment.  The central system will be more efficient and effective resulting in lower utility expenses for Temple and increased comfort tor Towers’ residents.

Once these building system upgrades are installed, the entire building will receive new paint, floor coverings and ceilings (in the corridors).  All kitchens will be remodeled, with granite counter tops and microwave ovens in each.  Apartments will be outfitted with new entry doors, the balconies will be replaced with energy efficient window systems and new furniture will be installed.

The main lobby will be expanded to create more open space and a true center to the building.  Bicycle rooms will be added to every floor and social lounges will be “opened up” with the installation of interior window walls.  The addition of a laundry room on the first floor will bring a long needed amenity to residents of this floor.

Finally, the building exterior will be completely pressure washed.  Combining freshly cleaned brick with the new window systems, will give Towers a much more contemporary image. These renovations are planned to make Temple Towers the “residence of choice” on campus and raise the standard of Apartment style living at Temple University.
