Meal Plan Information
Temple University is pleased to offer students a multitude of dining options on each of our campuses that are flexible and adaptable to a student’s schedule and eating habits. A full-service Dining Center is located at the Main, Ambler and Tyler campuses. The Valaida S. Walker Food Court, located in the Student Activities Center on the Main Campus, offers students dining options from Burger King and Taco Bell, to Freshens Smoothies, and a world tour of tastes at the International Emporium, to name just a few. Temple Dining Services Meal Plan Packages
Many of the plan options we offer to students are combined packages that include a specific number of meals per week and a set amount of Diamond Dollars. Students find these meal plan packages convenient for their needs, allowing them to dine in our Dining Centers and food courts. In addition, they can purchase items from vending machines and convenience stores in our residence halls, as well as from other eateries across Temple’s campuses.
The Dining Centers provide service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner each weekday and during brunch and dinner on weekends. In addition, a “Fourth Meal” period (described below) is offered in the late evening from Sunday through Friday. Each Dining Center features a deli sandwich station, a salad bar, homemade soups, freshly baked desserts, ice cream, and beverages in addition to a selection of hot entrees and vegetables. A vegetarian entree is featured at both lunch and dinner.

Diamond Dollars
Most of the meal plan packages include a University debit program, which allows students to utilize their University I.D. card as a debit card. Diamond Dollars provides students with a method to purchase food at all Temple Dining Services locations and several independent eating establishments without having to carry cash. Diamond Dollars are purchased in advance and credited to your account. You may add additional Diamond Dollars at any time during the school year. You can always access your account through the Diamond Dollars web site to check your balance or even see where you have been spending your Diamond Dollars. Every time you make a purchase with Diamond Dollars the cashier can tell you how much money is remaining on your account.
Students who select meal plan packages with Diamond Dollars associated with them have the option to add additional Diamond Dollars to their account by contacting the Diamond Dollars Office or through MyHousing. The amount of Diamond Dollars associated with the different meal plan packages is applied to each semester (e.g. a Super Value 12 Meal Plan offers $150 Diamond Dollars, which means that $150 is applied to their account in the Fall and another $150 is applied in the Spring).
Cash Equivalency Program
Meal plans now offer greater flexibility and value than ever before. The Cash Equivalency Program has been extended to allow all students on a meal plan the option of eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the Valaida S. Walker Food Court in the Student Activities Center. Meal plan participants will now have both the “all-you-can-eat” option at their campus Dining Center or, should they choose to enjoy a meal at the Student Activities Center Food Court, they may exchange a meal up to a specified dollar value. The equivalency value for each meal is $5.00 for breakfast and $6.55 for brunch, lunch or dinner. In addition, during the 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm incentive period that takes place from Monday through Thursday, the cash equivalency rises to $7.10. If a purchase is more costly than the equivalency amount for a specified time period, then cash or Diamond Dollars may be used to cover the balance.

The “Fourth Meal” a part of Super Value Packages

Standard meal plans may use Diamond Dollars to allow access to the “Fourth Meal” period.
