Off-Campus Housing
Students that are thinking about living off campus have many options. Temple University has (4) privately developed and managed anchor properties surrounding the community. Oxford Village, University Village, Kardon Atlantic and the Edge are all within walking distance and provide students an affordable alternative.
Many Temple students prefer traditional living arrangements, so we maintain a list of local apartment complexes with selections such as Sydenham Commons, York North, Academia Suites and Lynnewood Gardens.
The Office of Off Campus Living also provides many non-traditional living options around the campus as well as throughout the city of Philadelphia. Site inspections are done on each property prior to listing it on the website, www.temple.edu/housing/offcampus. Developers, landlords, property managers and realtors must submit an application and schedule an appointment for our representative to see the property and take pictures. Pictures of each property are available in our office and can also be emailed to anyone interested. We have cultivated many quality properties throughout the area and have developed working relationships with the owners.
If this is the first time you are considering renting and want to learn more, please come into the office and speak with one of our representatives. We can review your lease with you, familiarize you with Philadelphia Neighborhoods, provide information on rental insurance, fire safety, financial aid, what your legal obligations are, what your landlord must provide by law, and answer any questions or concerns you might have.
Throughout the fall and spring semesters we offer a series of Off Campus Living Fairs. This is a great opportunity for you to meet local landlords, property managers and realtors to see their product, get an idea of what they offer and speak with them one-on-one.
All of the resources that are offered on our website are also available in our office. We find that many students enjoy the personalized service much more and we welcome you to come to the office. If you prefer, you may arrange an appointment in advance.
