Letter from the Director
Dear Students, Colleagues and Staff,

Welcome to Temple University’s Tuttleman Counseling Services (TCS) web site. We are the mental health counselors on campus and are different from academic advising or career counseling services. We are strongly committed to helping all students who are experiencing distress from a variety of sources.
Since 1964, TCS has supported and enhanced students' emotional functioning, and thereby their success as students. Individual and group counseling, as well as workshops and outreach events are all part of our services. We see approximately fifteen hundred students per year in individual and group counseling, and serve many thousands more with workshops, outreach events, and at orientation.
Our setting iat 1810 Liacouras Walk provides a safe and non-threatening yet professional atmosphere. I believe that if you choose to talk to one of our counselors you will feel as though your concerns are taken very seriously. Often the experience of telling your concerns to a professional counselor can be a very powerful positive life event. Our services are geared toward increasing self-awareness, understanding, and problem solving skills that are essential to success in life. The counselors at TCS are strongly committed to the development and well being of our students.
I encourage you to explore our entire web site, including our different service units: Psychological Services and Psychiatry, Campus Alcohol and Substance Awareness (CASA), the Conflict Education Resource team (CERT), Sexual Assault Counseling and Education (SACE), the Temple Health Empowerment Office (THEO) and self-help information. We also provide links to other mental health resources and information about upcoming events.
In addition we have an excellent predoctoral internship and practicum training programs for graduate students in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and social work. Finally, if you feel passionately about the issues that CASA, CERT, SACE and THEO address, you may apply for one of our peer educator positions. It is a great way to learn more and teach others and to make a difference in our University community.
Once again welcome, and accept my warm wishes for a rewarding and enriching experience at Temple.
Sincerely,
