John has served in the position of Director of Tuttleman Counseling Services since 1996. He oversaw the self study and subsequent accreditation of the department in 1999 by the International Association of Counseling Services. John is a clinical psychologist. Prior to joining Temple in 1996, he served for 10 years in community mental health in New York City. At the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services, John supervised staff and interns who conducted individual, family, and group therapy. He served for six years as adjunct assistant professor of psychology at Long Island University where he taught Introduction to Clinical Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Personality Theories, Introduction to Psychology, and History and Systems.
John is Director of the Mimesis Institute, an association for the study of mythology and group processes with centers in Switzerland, Philadelphia, and New York. He received his Ph.D. from Long Island University in 1989, and his BA from Fordham University in 1980. He is a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in psychology.
