Welcome You have reached the website of the Strongin research group of Temple University, located in Philadelphia. The Strongin group is a physical chemistry research group which primarily focuses on using surface analytical techniques to tackle environmental problems; though many other problems which require surface analytical techniques, like pre-biotic hydrothermal chemistry, are being explored as well. The pages of this website include information on our research, facilities, publications, and group members. Lab News Elizabeth Cerkez, Samantha Shumlas and Leanne VanBuren have joined the Strongin group in Spring, 2011. Liz has begun working on the photo-induced redox processes on iron (oxy)hyrdroxides. Sam is focusing on linking the inorganic and the biological world in the orgins of life project funded by Nasa. Leanne is continuing research in the carbon sequestration project funded by the DOE, mainly foucusing on pH and GC headspace studies using hematite and hydrogen sulfide. Naryan Bhandari, Kristin Lammers, Andro-Marc Pierre-Louis and Amber Riendeau presented at the American Chemical Society's Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting (MARM) in May, 2011 at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD.
Interested? Are you interested in pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry? Do you find the information on this page interesting? Well if so, contact professor Strongin about working in the group.
