Directed Readings in Spanish and Portuguese
.

In order for a student to register for one of these courses they must fulfill the following requirements:

1.  The student must have a project that is substantially different from existing courses.  Said project should be sound.  It should connect with something that goes beyond what the Department regularly teaches.  It is the Department’s expectation that students will exhaust departmental offerings prior to taking a Directed Readings course.

2.   There must be one professor who has an interest in the course a student wishes to take and who is willing to supervise it.

3.  It is necessary that the student completes a formal proposal:  with the signature of the involved professor, a summary of the content of the course and a description of the manner in which the student will be evaluated and the times the student and the professor will meet.

Upon completing this process, the Chair of the Department will evaluate the above proposal in order to make a final decision.
