Presentations:- Barry Nazar, DPA, and Lynn Notestine, MSW, of Temple University Harrisburg will present two workshops at the Annual Conference of the Community Action Partnership to be held in Philadelphia, September 2-5, 2009. One entitled “Ten Minute Intake” describes an assessment protocol for establishing baselines in 17 domains of self sufficiency. The other entitled “The Helping Interview” presents motivational enhancement techniques for case managers.
Grants:- Healthy Start HSRA Grant Awarded - Temple University at Harrisburg (TUH) is collaborating with the Hamilton Health Center (HHC) of Harrisburg, PA, on a grant funded project awarded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). The project proposal was developed by HHC director, Jeannine Peterson and her senior clinical team, and Dr. Barry Nazar, Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at TUH. The project aims at eliminating disparities in prenatal health among minorities.
- Offender Re-entry PCCD Grant Awarded - Temple University at Harrisburg (TUH) is collaborating with the Firm Foundation of PA (FFP) of Harrisburg, on a grant funded project awarded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The project proposal was developed by FFP director Ronald Tilley, chairman Vladimir Beaufils and Dr. Barry Nazar, Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at TUH.The project aims at eliminating recidivism among released offenders by providing a range of community support services and life skills enhancement training.
