Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 1:05 PM

Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved as distributed.

President Turner's Report:
The provost has asked for three names of volunteers for the Committee on Sustainability.  She will choose one from the three we provide.

Provost's Visit:
Provost Staiano-Coico visited us to discuss the proposed change to the bylaws concerning quorum.  This engendered a substantial discussion.  She proposed that we schedule a retreat with the Provost and the FSSC to discuss ways of increasing faculty willingness to participate in shared governance.  There was also some discussion about the possibility of using technology to facilitate the exchange of ideas.

Visit from HR, Debbie Hartnett, Karen Cherwony:
Most of HR has moved to its new location at 2450 Hunting Park Avenue.  There will be some satellite offices on Main Campus and the Health Sciences campus.  Aiken asked whether there is parking available at the new location.  The answer is that there is limited parking available, and that there will be hourly shuttle busses between Main Campus and the new location.

We were then given a presentation about the status of the move to the Banner system.  The move to the new system has begun and will be complete by January 2011.

Finally, we were given a report on the faculty and staff survey that was undertaken in 2008.  This was a survey about working conditions at various schools performed by the Chronicle of Higher Education.  Temple was allowed to add some questions specific to Temple.  A summary of the results was presented to us. At least a part of these summary results will soon be presented to the entire Temple community.

Return to President Turner's report:
We have three volunteers for the Committee on Sustainability.  Jackson moved that we forward those three names to the Provost.  The motion carried unanimously.

There being neither old business nor new business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:15 PM

Submitted by Paul LaFollette, acting Secretary
