Fall 2006
The Faculty Senate Committee on Community-Based Learning has begun meeting regularly on every other Wed morning at 10 AM in Anderson 1006 (next meeting Feb 7). We hope to develop a mission statement very soon, but our discussion included these possible initiatives:
- gathering information on University projects involving the North Philadelphia community and beyond
- supporting both research and partnerships in underserved neighborhoods of Philadelphia
- proposing some form of center for the support of social justice and community-based learning initiatives
- exchanging views with President Hart soon on the topic of Temple's community involvements
The members of the committee represent a wide range of experiences and interests, and we hope to serve as a clearinghouse for information and new projects in the future. Please contact Eli Goldblatt, chair of the committee, at 1-1820 or eligold@temple.edu for further information.
