Temple Students - In Their Own Words
elena bossler, Senior "The Theater Program at Temple offers an unlimited variety of opportunities for students to perform and be seen in and around Philadelphia. Since freshman year, I have been consistently performing in Philadelphia theaters. Now approaching the end of my senior year, I am leaving with
numerous connections that will allow me to network and continue my career as an actress. I have also benefitted greatly from scholarships offered through the program, one which granted me to study abroad in India! With countless student projects, directing scenes, Main Stage shows, and our annual participation with the Philadelphia Young Playwrights, every student is guaranteed time on stage and the chance to work alongside successful working theater professionals -- who also happen to be our professors!"
DAMON WILLIAMS, SENIOR "I began college as an undeclared freshman and had no idea that I would become a theater major. Temple has an extremely dedicated and expert faculty, and those that I had the pleasure of working with guided me towards discovering my passion."
STEPHANIE CRYOR, FRESHMAN "I had the opportunity to perform in Temple's Shakespeare Live! production of Romeo and Juliet, an outreach program that takes a performance to Philadelphia elementary schools around Temple's campus for kids in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. We workshopped the play in class with the students a week before, and it gave them a great learning opportunity and also a chance to see a show. The fact that Temple's Theater Department puts on productions for these kids is one of the main reasons I chose to study here. It is great to perform for the kids because they can be the most responsive and energetic audience members."
BECKY ROSCINSKI, SENIOR "Philadelphia is one of the largest theater communities in the country. When deciding on Temple for your theater degree, know that the program is what you make it. If you choose to participate in all the areas that they offer, you will be more marketable in a profession where it is hard to get your foot in the door. Learn how to build sets, costumes, and props! Be a dramaturg! Be an assistant stage manager! What makes this program awesome is that you have the ability to try a myriad of different things before you graduate. Plus, you are working with faculty that are working professionally in the city. You will be happy with picking Temple in the end because your education will have prepared you for the real world."
More to Come!
