Call for Papers:
2007 SCT Graduate Student Competitive Research Forum

The Mass Media & Communication (MM&C) Program announces the ninth annual School of Communications & Theater Graduate Student Competitive Research Forum. Although this event is sponsored by the MM&C program, it is open to students in any SCT program.

WHEN: Friday, February 23, 2007, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm

WHERE: Tuttleman Learning Center, Room 300
(Forum will be followed by a free luncheon for participants at the Diamond Club)

All SCT graduate students are encouraged to submit a paper on completed or current scholarly work. Examples of appropriate types of submissions include:

  • Research proposals (including condensed dissertation proposals)
  • Papers involving original research or critical literature reviews that were written for a class
  • Completed research papers not yet presented at a conference

Submissions will be blind-reviewed by MMC faculty and invited outside reviewers. Criteria for judging will include:

  • Originality of research/contribution to field
  • Theoretical and methodological soundness
  • Clarity and organization

All MMC students are expected to attend the forum. Please save the date.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the authors of the top papers.

 

Submission guidelines

Please submit 4 copies of your paper by 5 pm on Monday, January 15, 2007 to Denise Lannon in the SCT Graduate Office on the 3rd floor of Annenberg Hall. You must also send an electronic version of the paper as an e-mail attachment to Dr. Michael Maynard at maynard@temple.edu. Each student may submit no more than one paper. Submissions must include a 100-word abstract and a cover sheet with the submitter's name, phone number, e-mail address and mailing address. The author's name must not appear anywhere else on the paper.
