Call for Papers:
2002 SCT Graduate Student Competitive Research Forum


The Mass Media & Communication Program announces the fourth annual

SCAT GRADUATE STUDENT COMPETITIVE RESEARCH FORUM

WHEN:Friday, February 1, 2002, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The goals of the Forum are to:

  • make students and faculty aware of students? research interests
  • provide discussion and critique of student work
  • prepare students for making presentations during job searches and conferences
  • provide recognition for outstanding student work


All SCAT graduate students are encouraged to submit a paper on completed or ongoing work.

Submissions of any sort of academic writing are acceptable. Types of papers that may be

submitted include:

  • research proposals (including condensed dissertation proposals)
  • papers written for class assignments
  • submissions to conferences or journals


All submissions will be blind-reviewed by SCAT faculty and invited outside reviewers.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the authors of the top papers.


Criteria for judging will include:

  • originality of research/contribution to field
  • theoretical and methodological soundness
  • clarity and organization


Deadline for submissions: Thursday, December 6, 2001

Submission guidelines

Submission format: 4 printed copies to Diane Johnson in the SCAT Graduate Office, plus an e-mail attachment in Word to nancy.morris@temple.edu.

Submissions must include a 100-word abstract of the paper and a cover sheet with the submitter?s name, phone number, mailing address, and e-mail address. Submitter?s name should not appear anywhere else on the paper.
