Admissions
The Application
Applicants must submit, a statement of goals, official transcripts, scores from the Graduate Record Examination, and two letters of recommendation. Writing samples and a record of professional experience also can be submitted.
Taking the GRE
All applicants must take verbal and quantitative parts of the Graduate Record Exam prior to acceptance into the program.

Deadlines
The M.J. program has rolling admissions. A completed application may be considered at almost any time. In general, applications must be complete by March 1 to be considered for assistantships and scholarships.

Financial Aid
Department Assistantships
The Department of Journalism awards several graduate assistantships. Assistantships include a stipend plus tuition remission. Recipients work 20 hours per week while performing research, teaching or completing administrative tasks. An application must by submitted by March 15.

Federal Stafford Loans
Loans are available to students enrolled for at least half time (5 credits) per semester. Applications are available at local banks, credit unions or other lending institutions.
Federal Work Study
The FWS program at Temple is designed to provide part time employment of students who demonstrate financial need based on federal calculations and require employment income to pursue their education. Students employed under FWS may work for the university or other public, private, nonprofit organizations or agencies.
