Merrill Reese, '64, is the play-by-play "Voice of the Philadelphia Eagles," a title he has held for 25 years. Reese has also handled play-by-play for Big 5 basketball games, tennis matches on Madison Square Garden Television (alongside Billie Jean King), and was the on-camera host and play-by-play voice of ESPN's award-winning series NFL Dream Season in 1990. In addition, he is part owner and General Manager of WBCB radio in Levittown and spent 14 years as Sports Director as WIP in Philadelphia. During the course of his prestigious career he has won many accolades, including being named the Pennsylvania Sportscaster of the Year by the National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters. Beverly Wettenstein, '64, is a NYC-based motivational speaker, women's history advocate and media monitor who speaks nationally on "A Woman's Place in the 21st Century." An award-winning journalist, she created HerStory, the first newspaper column dedicated to women in history and today, in the Dallas Morning News. She is the author of A Woman's Book of Days, and the founder of the database Women in History and Making History Today -- 365 Days A Year. Celebrate Women Every Day! A former Public Affairs Director at American Express, Citicorp and the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, she also is a marketing and PR consultant. She writes regularly for huffingtonpost.com.
Arlene Notoro Morgan, '67, is Associate Dean for Programs and Prizes at Columbia University. In that role, she oversees the administration of the school’s many prestigious prizes and professional development workshops. Morgan is the co-editor of The Authentic Voice: The Best Reporting on Race and Ethnicity, a compilation text book, DVD, and web site of award-winning stories from her program. Morgan joined Columbia in August 2000 after a 31-year career at the Philadelphia Inquirer, where she served as an assistant managing editor for readership, hiring and staff development. In 1995, Morgan was honored with the first Knight Ridder Excellence in Diversity Award for her leadership in fostering diversity issues throughout Knight Ridder newspapers. Morgan is chair of the Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation's grant making committee.
Jane Brodsky Altschuler, '69, is an award winning producer, director, writer and editor. After starting her career at Grey Advertising in New York, she completed an MA at New York University in educational communications; then co-founded Editape/Edifilm Inc., a production and post-production facility. In 1984, she founded her current company, Jane Altschuler Productions. Notably she has produced and directed the documentaries Walk Thru Rock, a three hour history of rock 'n' roll; Nigeria: The Unknown Giant; and The March of Time pilot for the BBC/PBS series based on the 205 Academy Awarded Time Inc. newsreels.
For Masterpiece Theater and Mobil Showcase Network, she produced/directed opening logos and re-cut more than 20 British miniseries for U.S. presentation, including Laurence Olivier’s King Lear, Nicholas Nickleby, and Churchill & the Generals. Editing projects of interest: The Everly Brothers' Rock ‘n’ Roll Odyssey (PBS); Boomtown, the multi-awarded animated film by Jules Feiffer and Bill Plympton; post-production supervisor of Rays Male Heterosexual Dance Hall, (Academy Award, Best Short); and she has edited hundreds of other films, TV shows, music videos and TV spots during her career. Altschuler has been an adjunct professor of editing at Tisch Graduate School of Film, NYU; and is a member of New York Women in Film where she served on the board from 1989 to 1991. Recently, Altschuler has been writing and producing feature films.
Ed Cunningham, '69, is best known as the unmistakable "voice of WHYY." During his 30-year career at TV12 and 91FM, Cunningham has also built a reputation as an award-winning producer of history and fund-raising programs for the Philadelphia public broadcasting station. Among these are Things That Aren't There Anymore, South Philly Italian Style and Philadelphia's Fabulous Sports Memories. Cunningham won an Excellence in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, Philadelphia Chapter, for Holy Philadelphia. He hosts the 91FM series Sunday Showcase, a weekly broadcast featuring classical ensembles. He has served as President of the Mozart Society of Philadelphia, as well as having served on the boards of the Associated Services for the Blind and the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. Alan Kosher, '69, is the company manager for Disney Theatrical Production's The Lion King, a position he has held for the past five years. Kosher began his career as a company manager 27 years ago, and has traveled over a million miles managing more than 25 touring Broadway theater productions. He recently created the Alan Kosher Fund at SCT to enable a selected student to experience a one-week internship with a first-class theatrical touring company, such as Disney's production of The Lion King.
