Media Education Lab

The Media Education Lab at Temple University is one of a small handful of research university programs that focuses specifically on the intersections of media studies, communication and education. Graduate and undergraduate students are able to take advantage of the ongoing research programs and are active participants in all of the programs of the Media Education Lab.

M.I.N.D. Lab

Temple is a member of the Media Interface and Network Design (M.I.N.D.) Labs, a networked consortium of ten labs located in seven countries spanning universities in the United States and Europe. The labs conduct research in human-computer interaction, communication and virtual environment design. Temple's Lab, located on the basement level of Annenberg Hall and directed by SCT Professor Matthew Lombard with Professors Andrew Mendelson and Timo Saari, focuses on the nature and consequences of mediated experiences. The Temple M.I.N.D. Lab features a combination of experiment/observation and exhibition/performance space, with extensive audiovisual presentation equipment and a variety of computing resources and physiological measurement tools.

MURL

MURL stands for the Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab in which journalism students cover stories in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. The newsroom is based on the ground floor of Temple University's Center City campus, which is just across the street from City Hall. MURL students use a contemporary, multimedia newsroom with wireless networking, Internet access, digital recorders and digital video cameras to produce Philadelphia Neighborhoods at www.philadelphianeighborhoods.com and content for various news media throughout the city.
