Departments
The structure and curriculum of the School of Communications and Theater evolve to meet the demands and expectations of a changing media landscape. At Temple, students and faculty pursue their career aspirations and research and creative interests in a dynamic environment that reflects the modern convergence of print, broadcast, and digital media.
- Advertising
- The Department of Advertising offers comprehensive training in advertising and marketing communication for a high-tech and media-intense environment, with a commitment to professional ethics.
- Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media
- The Department of Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media features the study of media production, management, and social processes, and offers comprehensive broadcast training.
- Film and Media Arts
- The Department of Film and Media Arts is committed to independent film and documentary work. The department focuses on developing creative and technical skills, as well as theoretical understanding of media and culture.
- Journalism
- The Department of Journalism is one of two journalism programs in the state accredited by the field’s national accrediting organization. The department is developing niche expertise in urban journalism and multimedia reporting.
- Strategic and Organizational Communication
- The Department of Strategic and Organizational Communication (StOC) takes a comprehensive approach to public relations and aims to serves the need of nonprofit organizations and the pubic at large, as well as the private sector.
- Theater
- The Department of Theater focuses on the study and practice of the art, craft, and scholarship of theater. The program prepares student for careers in acting, theatrical design, directing, stage-management, and technical theater.
