Concetta M. Stewart, Ph.D. integrates state-of-the-art research and business practices into her every endeavor. She is a dynamic and inspirational leader whose research into the introduction, evaluation and impact of communication and information technology has been widely published in professional and academic journals and books.

Dean Stewart holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in Communication and Information Studies as well as an M.A. from the New School University in Media Studies. She completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University.

As Dean of the Temple University School of Communications and Theater, she provides academic, fiscal and strategic leadership for approximately 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students. Under her leadership, the School has doubled its enrollment, reorganized to better serve its students for success in the rapidly changing world of communications, and made significant strategic investments in technology.

Dean Stewart leads a team of more than 40 administrative staff members, 90 full-time and 130 adjunct faculty members and has successfully recruited several new faculty members of national stature this year. Dean Stewart has increased the School’s visibility locally and nationally and also raised significant funds to improve the overall quality of students’ experiences.

Dean Stewart began her academic career at Temple University as a faculty member in the Radio Television and Film department before her selection as the inaugural chair of the Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media Department. She concurrently served as Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Provost and chaired the University’s “Teaching, Learning and Technology” roundtable, which led to the development and implementation of distance learning, the creation of “smart” classrooms and guidelines for technology planning activities.

Prior to joining Temple in 1993, Dean Stewart worked at AT&T for twelve years in their corporate headquarters, holding positions in international market development and planning, customer and market research, and product management and introduction.
