Prospective Students

Admissions

MM&C admits a small number (approximately 10) students each fall. A master's degree is required for admission to MM&C (although it need not be a degree in communication). Students without a master's degree may wish to apply to one of the masters programs in Temple's School of Communications and Theater (more information about them is available here).

The decision to admit an applicant is based on several criteria, including:

  • The applicant's previous degree preparations and grade point averages
  • Performance on the Graduate Record Examinations (GREs)
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Honors and scholarly achievements
  • Very importantly, the convergence of the applicant's abilities and research interests with those of available faculty mentors

The goal statement is very important in determining the fit between the prospective student and MM&C faculty.

Although not required, it is strongly recommended that applicants submit a sample of their scholarly research.

The deadline for submission of complete applications for students wishing to begin the MM&C program in fall 2012 is December 15, 2011.
