Talk with a health information specialist to learn more about a particular type of cancer, treatment options and community resources.

Please help us to understand how to improve people’s lives after they have been treated for colon or rectal cancer. You can help by participating in this study, which is supported by the National Cancer Institute. As a participant, you will receive a free booklet designed by the National Cancer Institute to help people cope with cancer. Your participation will help us to better understand how cancer affects people’s day-to-day life and how to improve it. Through this research study, we will be able to better inform patients like you about what to expect after cancer treatment.

Study participation involves two telephone interviews and some brief journal writing. Some participants will write about cancer and others will write about their daily activities. You will receive $40 and the Life After Cancer treatment book after the first interview.

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Had surgery for Stage I-III colon or rectal cancer in the past five years (after 2001).
  • Able to read and write English.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • No history of other cancers, with the exception of non-melanoma skin cancer.
