Evacuation Testing

As part of Temple’s ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and becoming TU Ready, a mandatory evacuation drill will be conducted for all buildings that are occupied by students and/or employees during the spring semester.

Scheduled drills in March and April 2012

Emergency response and evacuation procedures will be tested and evaluated during these drills. During each exercise students and employees will: (1) practice evacuation procedures and efficient building clearance; (2) familiarize themselves with the location of exits and rallying points; (3) recognize the needs of students and colleagues who may require special assistance; and (4) spread the word to the university community about what it means to be TU Ready.

Contact the Office of the Fire Marshall for more information.

In light of this incident, we would like to remind everyone in the Temple community:

-Lock your doors and windows.

-If you are aware of criminal activity taking place, particularly behavior involving roommates or neighbors, report it immediately to the police.

-Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable in a place or situation, leave the area and go somewhere safe.

-Use timers on lights, radios, televisions, etc. and set them to go on and off to make your home appear occupied.

-Ask a trusted friend, neighbor or your landlord to watch your home and contact police if they notice any suspicious activity while you are away.

-Close blinds or drapes to ensure that larger electronics and valuables are not visible from the outside.
