In the Dead Sea Scrolls seminar, and while reading through the Greek text of the Psalms of Solomon, we learned how to estimate the shelf-life and provenance of Krispy Kreme doughnuts alongside the decidedly less important skill of dating various texts. Dr. Wright’s warmth and good nature made the early days of graduate school in particular much more bearable, and having a person always ready to share an amusing story or two made Temple’s Department of Religion a more human place for the always anxious spirits of doctoral students.

Temple was such a part of Dr. Wright and Dr. Wright of Temple that he also opened his home to us students for memorable feasts (involving the slightly less famous but nonetheless delicious no-drip meatball sandwiches), and even thought to include us in his wedding celebration! Temple will not be the same without Dr. Wright, and I wish him all the best and hope for his continued happiness.
