Guide to Registration for Spring 2008
Frequently Asked Questions |
What Is Continuing Student Registration?
Continuing Student Registration is the period in which all currently enrolled students register. This registration period is intended to give preference to all continuing students by matriculation status and class level, ensuring that they are able to schedule classes before new students.
This regulated process ensures fairness to all students and provides them with the best access to our computerized registration system. Please register at your earliest opportunity to get the best selection of classes and the most convenient class schedule.
SEE OWLNET AND THE SUMMER, SPRING, OR FALL REGISTRATION SCHEDULES FOR YOUR START DATES AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
What Must I Do To Register?
Must I register online?
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY. You remain eligible provided your cumulative and last semester's grade point averages are at least 2.00. If you are eligible to use OWLnet you must register and add/drop through the web. You must, however, add any sections that require special written authorization at campus registration office by presenting a properly endorsed Special Course Approval or Closed Section Approval form.
Must I See An Advisor If I Register Online?
Although advisors' signatures are not required if you register or add/drop online, you are encouraged to meet with your advisor prior to registering or at any time that you have questions. If you are a first semester freshman, you must see an advisor to ensure that an approval indicator is placed on your record.
You are responsible for following your school/college guidelines and for meeting course prerequisites.
What Must I Do If I Am Not Eligible To Register Online?
You must make an appointment with your advisor, obtain a signed Registration/Schedule Revision form and take it to your campus registration office according to the term's Registration Schedule for Continuing Students. Registration at campus registration locations is also regulated by class level, so plan on registering on your start date for the best selection of courses.
Is There a Penalty for Registering Late?
A $50.00 late fee is assessed if your registration is not transacted until the first day of the term. Please note that continuing matriculated graduate and undergraduate students will be charged a $50.00 Late Registration fee prior to the start of classes. (See Tuition and other charges for more information)
When Can I Revise My Schedule (Add/Drop)?
You may revise your schedule any time after you have registered. However, you will be assessed $12 each day that you drop and/or add a section beginning with the second week of fall or spring and the third day of a summer session. For detailed information regarding the drop/add process, refer to the Schedule Revision Matrix in the Guide to Registration.
If I Drop A Class Will It Be Deleted From My Roster?
Dropping classes through the end of the second week of the fall or spring semester or a summer session will result in the removal of the class from your roster. After that date you may withdraw from a class after that date but, it will remain on your roster and appear on your transcript. You are responsible for full payment of tuition and fees for withdrawals processed after the second week of classes, except as outlined in the University's Tuition and Fees Policy. For information on this policy, contact the Department of Student Financial Services.
If A Course Is Cancelled Do I Have To Drop It From My Roster?
A course will be automatically deleted from your roster once the department cancels it in the system. A computer generated notice will serve as official verification that the cancellation section has been dropped from your roster. If you want to drop the course prior to formal cancellation by the department, you may do so.
What Should I Do If The Payment Due On My Bill Is Zero?
Normally, your registration is confirmed and your classes are secured when you pay at least the minimum due on your bill. However, EVEN IF THE MINIMUM PAYMENT DUE ON YOUR STATEMENT IS ZERO, you must do one of the following to confirm your classes:
-
Go online to owlnet.temple.edu and click on the Confirmation Button in the Financial Services option.
-
Take the bill to the Bursar’s Office on your campus.
-
If you are a financial aid recipient, you may phone Student Financial Services 215.204.2244 for their assistance with confirmation
NOTE: Financial aid that appears on your bill is not automatically applied as a credit until you confirm your reserved classes. Only after your classes are confirmed, will your aid be applied as a credit toward your balance owed. If you have applied for financial aid that does not appear on your bill, contact the Department of Student Financial Services to avoid having your classes canceled.
REMEMBER - IF YOU DO NOT CONFIRM THE CLASSES YOU HAVE RESERVED BY THE DUE DATE, THEY WILL BE CANCELLED.
If I Do Not Attend Classes Will My Money Be Refunded?
When you register, you become liable for full payment of all charges assumed at registration. Simply failing to attend a class does not change the payment due or entitle you to a refund. To cancel the financial liability for a registration, you must drop the course(s) through OWLnet or your campus registration center before the term's last day to drop courses without financial obligation.
After this date you are responsible for full payment of all tuition and fee charges.
