Research Activities

Students have the opportunity to conduct research under the guidance of a University Faculty member or Program staff.  These opportunities are designed to provide a theoretical base and practical understanding to the process of research and methodology.  Undergraduate students may participate in guided research in the McNair Program, while high school students may conduct research in the Math/ Science Upward Bound Program.

McNair Program Research

If you are selected to be a participant in the McNair Program, you will write various research papers throughout your junior and senior years. Some papers are presented locally, but a great many of them are presented at regional and national conferences.  Students in the McNair Program have presented papers as follows (a representative sample)

Math / Science Upward Bound Research

If you are selected to be a participant in the Math/Science Upward Bound Program (MSUB), you will conduct an original research project during the academic year and summer program, culminating in the presentation of your research at the MSUB Summer Conference and various regional and national science fair competitions.
