Intra-personal Intelligence - Learning Style This intelligence/style is related to inner states of being, self-reflection, metacognition (i.e. thinking about thinking), and awareness of spiritual realities. It is the ability to understand one's own behavior and feelings. Intra-personal learners are self-aware, independent, and spend time alone. They also evaluate their own thinking, understand themselves in relationship to others, and think and reason on higher levels. Study technique tips: Relate or translate the information to something personal. Reflect on the personal meaning of the information. Visualize the information. Keep a journal. Study in quite settings. Imagine experiments. Identify goals for each section/chapter. Relate the material to the "big picture" of the course. Adapted from: Dr. Joyce Bishop, Seven Pathways of Learning 1994. David Kolb's learning style and associated terminology are based on the works of John Dewey, Kurt Lewin, Jean Piaget, and JP Guilford.
