Areas of Specialization

Brain, Behavior & Cognition Cluster

Temple University's Brain, Behavior, and Cognition Cluster trains students for careers in research and teaching in a variety of academic and applied settings. Faculty members in this area, as well as related faculty within the Psychology Department and adjunct faculty at near-by institutions, are conducting research on a wide range of phenomena. Faculty research interests range from molecular and genetic analysis of behavior to systems behavioral analysis. There are three primary Ph.D. training tracks or specializations in the Brain, Behavior, and Cognition Cluster.

Clinical, Developmental & Social Cluster

The Department of Psychology's Doctoral Area in Clinical Psychology is firmly rooted in the scientist-practitioner model of training. Developmental students receive doctoral training in all phases of the life cycle; from infancy through childhood and adolescence to adulthood and aging. The Social Psychology area focuses on the concentrations of social cognition, emotion, and decision making. The emphasis in Developmental Psychopathology is neither a separate program nor a subdivision of either the clinical or developmental programs, but a recommended set of courses that students interested in this specialization are encouraged to follow.
