As of Fall 2008, Shannon will be in her third year of graduate studies. She received her B.A. from Stony Brook University. As a member of the Spatial Intelligence and Learning Center (SILC), Shannon’s current research interests focus on individual differences in spatial abilities. Specifically, her research focuses on the eye movements of individuals during solutions of complex spatial visualizations tasks such as mental rotation. Coupling eye movements with behavioral measures such as verbal report and gesture, Shannon hopes to shed some light on the specific strategies employed by persons of differing spatial ability. Concurrent collaborative work is also examining the relationship between working memory and spatial ability.
