Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology Utrecht University, The Netherlands. My research primarily focuses on the interaction between psychosocial and biological factors in understanding human development. Specifically, my research mainly focuses on two areas: (1) the link between pubertal development, family relations and adolescent adjustment and (2) how child and parent characteristics combine to explain both between- and within-family differences in parental investment and what consequences these have for child well being, internalizing and externalizing problems. I teach an undergraduate course in Adolescent Development, give guest lectures in other developmental courses, and also teach a Developmental Theories course for our Research Masters. I also supervise bachelor, masters, and Ph.D. theses. I am currently secretary of the European Society on Family Relations.

I am currently at the Utah State Office of Education in Evaluation and 
Assessment. In general, my responsibilities include large-scale test 
development, data analysis, education policy, accountability and 
reporting. Nationally, I am one of a few state representatives to the 
Assessment Subcommittee of the Education Information Advisory Committee 
(EIAC) and the Permanent Standing Task Force on Assessment. Each group 
serves an advisory group to National Center of Educational Statistics 
(NCES) at the U.S. Department of Education.

As a Research Associate for Evaluation and Assessment, I am involved in 
the day-to-day management of: 

* U-PASS Test Results (Utah's Education Accountability Model) - this 
involves the development of electronic and paper reports.

* Co-manage a series of research and design studies that are 
investigating the comparability of electronic testing with paper and pencil 
testing for the state.

* Co-manage the Reporting and School Performance contract and the 
state's Technical Advisory Committee. Using multivariate statistics, I am 
working with others to combine achievement data and other school 
performance indicators into a designation of status for state accountability 
(U-PASS) and for federal accountability legislation (No Child Left 
Behind). Our model will include a growth dimension (year to year change) 
that will utilize effect-size analysis and treat each school as a 
meta-analysis.
