Dr. Schenker runs a private practice in Chestnut Hill treating individuals suffering from alcohol and drug problems. In addition to his private practice, he has written a book A Clinician’s Guide to Twelve-Step Recovery (W.W. Norton), which has received uniformly positive reviews in American and British journals. He is also a consultant to the Treatment Research Center on the Recovery Toolkit project. Additionally, his chapter on “The Disease Concept” recently appeared in Brizer and Castaneda’s textbook on addiction psychiatry (Cambridge University Press). Dr. Schenker provides training workshops for professionals in a variety of settings, including the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration.
