Dr. Penny Levin, a former clinical area graduate student, recently completed a Personal Trainer certification. She will be affiliating with FitnessRxPerts, a Conshohocken PA based training facility offering fitness training, lifestyle management, nutritional counseling, sports clinics and educational programs for clients as well as professionals. Some of the projects in the works include fitness oriented team building exercises, a weight management group, and a multi-disciplinary training camp program for a local sports team. Since completing her Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor licenses in 2004, Penny has expanded her work to include fear of flying, crew resource management, pilot safety and aviation disaster response. And now she’s a personal trainer!
Dr. Bing Shi, a former developmental area graduate student who graduate in May 2010, currently works as an assistant professor in the Marketing department at Sun-Yat Sen University in Guangzhou, China.
Dr. Tilbe Goksun, a former Developmental area graduate student, is featured in APA's gradPSYCH magazine.
Dr. Sarah Roseberry, a former Developmental area graduate student, is a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Washington working with Dr. Patricia Kuhl.
Dr. Meghan Hughes, a former Clinical area graduate student, is a post-doctoral fellow at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Allan J. Kimmel, a former Social area graduate student, recently published his seventh book entitled Connecting with Consumers: Marketing for New Marketplace Realities (Oxford University Press). For more information, click here.
Dr. Margo Noel Gardner, a former Developmental area graduate student, who currently works as a research scientist at the National Center for Children and Families at Columbia, recently welcomed a baby boy named Noah Benjamin Gardner into the world. Everyone is healthy and happy.
Dr. Henry Tran, a former Developmental area graduate student, currently works as an education researcher at Westat in Rockville, MD.
Dr. Samuel Fung, a former Social area graduate student, is a Professor of Psychology at Austin Peay State University. He also serves as Chair of the Psychology Department and was recently voted to serve as the Chair for another term.
Dr. Nicholas DiFonzo , Professor of Psychology at Rochester Institute of Technology, recently published The Watercooler Effect: A Psychologist Explores the Extraordinary Power of Rumors.
Dr. Melissa Terlecki, a graduate of our program in 2004, currently works as an assistant professor at Cabrini College.
Dr. Mandy Maguire, a former Developmental area graduate student, currently works as an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Dallas in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences.
In July 2009, Dr. Steven Stern was promoted to Chair of the Division of Natural Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Dr. Trevor A. Hart, a graduate of our Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology, was promoted to Associate Professor and tenured in the Department of Psychology at Ryerson University.
Dr. Brandon Gibb and Dr. Meredith Coles, graduates of the clinical program, were recently promoted to Associate Professors of Psychology (with tenure) at Binghamton University (SUNY). Dr. Gibb recently received an R01 grant from NICHD (“Pathways to Depression in Children of Depressed Mothers”). Dr. Coles recently received an R21 grant from NIMH (“Assessing Mental Health Literacy for Anxiety Disorders"). Dr. Coles’s grant is being conducted with Dr. Richard Heimberg and the Institute for Survey Research at Temple.
Masami Takahashi, Ph.D., a former Developmental area graduate student, is an associate professor at Northeastern Illinois University. He also recently produced and directed a film (http://www.der.org/films/last-kamikaze.html).
Gerard Costa, Ph.D., a former Developmental area graduate student, has a chapter on "Pervasive Developmental Disorders" appearing in the July 2009 Wiley book, "Evidence-Based Practice in Infant and Early Childhood Psychology."
Kate Monahan, Ph.D., a former Developmental area graduate student just accepted a full-time position as a Research Scientist at David Hawkins' center at the University of Washington.
Carolyn Spies, Ph.D., a former Developmental area graduate student reports, " I am happy to share that Bloomfield is the recipient of a two-year, $1.2 million grant from the Predominantly Black Institutions program under Title IV of the US Department of Education, which I co-wrote with two colleagues and for which I am serving as project manager (in addition to my day job as the associate dean). The grant targets recruitment and retention of Black American students into the STEM fields." Congratulations Dr. Spies!
Mark Schenker, Ph.D., a former Clinical Area graduate students has written a book called, "A Clinician's Guide to Twelve-Step Recovery" which will be published in February, 2009 by W.W. Norton. Click here for a flier from the publisher.
Anthony Steven Dick, Ph.D., a former Developmental Area graduate student is a post-doctoral fellow at the Human Neuroscience Lab at University of Chicago. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Anthony Steven Dick's and Dr. Sharon Dick's (formerly Shannon Pruden, also a former Developmental Area graduate student) new son, Adam Steven Dick.
