Bio: Michael graduated Stockton College of New Jersey in 2006. Michael’s interests are homophobia in self-identified straight men, as well as internalized homophobia in self-identified gay men.


Bess J. Puvathingal, M.A., BCBA

Bio: Bess is currently in her first year of graduate studies in the Social Area. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Bess received her M.A. in Behavior Analysis from the University of Nevada, Reno, and her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. Bess' prior experience is in behavioral consultation for individuals with autism, in both the school and home settings. Her current research interests involve decision-making and cross-cultural integration in organizational settings.


Arthur Sandt, BS

Bio: Arthur is currently in his second year. He received his BS in Psychology from Michigan State University. He is interested in biological and physiological mechanisms of emotions, particularly among individuals with depression and anxiety. He is also interested in emotion regulation, empathy among clinicians, facial expressiveness, and facial mimicry. Arthur is currently investigating the post-auricular reflex as a measure of positive emotion. In collaboration with Dr. Johnson, Arthur will begin examining the benefits of positive affect among therapists on therapeutic alliance, clients’ perception of empathy, and session helpfulness.
