The Vice Provost for the Arts at Temple University is responsible for promoting the performing, visual and media arts by raising the level of awareness of student and faculty creative endeavors at local, national and international levels and serving as the spokesperson on behalf of the Boyer College of Music and Dance, Tyler School of Art, the Departments of Theater and the Department of Film and Media Arts. The Office of Vice Provost for the Arts has launched several new initiatives in 2011-12, including the advertising campaign, the arts@temple, which promotes the many arts events on campus to the general public in and around Philadelphia. The accompanying website, arts.temple.edu, includes links to calendars for Theater, Film, Exhibitions, Music and Dance.
The Office also initiated a round of grant applications for tenure and tenure-track arts faculty: Arts Grants for Research and Creative Achievement. The deadline to submit the Arts grant application 2012 for this year was April 1. Grantees will be notified in early May.
The new TU Arts Lunchtime Series featured performances and presentations by performing and visual arts students to faculty and administrators throughout the university who may not have the opportunity to attend an arts event. This year's series has featured violin students from the studio of Carnell Professor of Violin, Eduard Schmieder; a performance by the TU Concert Choir; students from the Department of Dance performing three varied dance styles; and, three MFA a student exhibits at Temple Gallery.
Temple Arts Night, (April 25, 2012) planned and organized by the Vice Provost for the Arts Student Advisory Committee, featured multidisciplinary performances, lectures and exhibits in jazz, choral music, dance, art history,film, graphic design and architecture. Read more.
