The Intensive English Language Program at Temple University was created over 30 years ago to offer English as a Second Language courses to non- English speakers. From elementary to advanced, the classes extend from everyday English to the language necessary for university studies. The purpose of the program is to meet the English language needs of the participants and introduce them to American culture. More information on how to apply.
The Intensive English Language Program EXCEL is a new program which requires a high level of proficiency in English for admission. Students who are successful in their application to this program will study 9 credits with the Intensive English Language Program (which may include TOEFL preparation) and 3 or 4 credits with a university course of their choice.
International Group Programs are customized curriculum created through the Intensive English Language Program to satisfy a group of international visitors' specific professional, socio-cultural, and language needs. The Temple educational coordinator will work closely with the international group representative to develop a program that fits the group's own schedule, accommodates different proficiency levels, and emphasizes skill areas that are most important to the group.
