Learning English can take place not only in the classroom but outside the classroom as well. Leaving campus and exploring the surrounding community is an exciting adventure and can improve language skills as well as introduce students to new places, foods, and people.
The IELP at Temple University provides students with the opportunity to take advantage of their new surroundings. Each week, the staff at the IELP organizes a trip to different events and landmarks in and around the Philadelphia area. These weekly trips are free for students and range from professional sports games to trips to the beach, haunted houses, and the nearby Amish countryside. Because Philadelphia is the birthplace of the nation, students have the chance to visit the historical National Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell. Full day trips are also organized to neighboring cities such as New York City and Washington DC.
