
YOU MUST MEET WITH THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR TO FIND OUT HOW MANY DAYS YOU CAN STAY IN THE COUNTRY WHEN YOU ARE READY TO GO HOME.
You should ask yourself the following questions before you consider leaving the IELP:
- Are you leaving the program during a session (while classes are still going on) WITHOUT the permission of the Assistant Director?
If so, that is considered an "UNAUTHORIZED WITHDRAWAL" and you must leave the country IMMEDIATELY. Your status as a student will be terminated. - Are you leaving the program during a session (while classes are still going on) WITH the permission of the Assistant Director?
If so, that is considered an "AUTHORIZED WITHDRAWAL" and you have 15 days to leave the country. Your status as a student will be completed. - Are you leaving the program in the middle of a semester (at the end of Spring 1, Summer 1 or Fall 1)?
If so, that is considered an "AUTHORIZED WITHDRAWAL" and you have 15 days to leave the country. Your status as a student will be completed.
- Are you leaving at the end of a semester (after Spring 2, Summer 2 or Fall 2)?
If so, you have 60 days to leave the country. Your status as a student will be completed.
If you are uncertain about your departure time, please fill out a request form in the office and you will receive an answer by email OR see the Assistant Director during walk-in hours. You should not buy your plane tickets or make plans until you have guidance. And you should not ask your friend, your teacher or a relative for immigration guidance!
