Academic Advising and Registration
Developing your Individual Study Plan, choosing the right classes and securing seats in them may feel like an overwhelming process at times. To help, we created a step by step guide:
Figure out what you need to take – Work with the Program Officer and Faculty Advisor/Department Chair at your home institution to determine the courses you need to complete during your studies at Temple.
Search for courses – You can use the Class Schedule Search or log into Self Service Banner (SSB) through the TUportal to find courses. You are able to limit by subject, campus, instructor, and even by specific days of the week. For information on how to use the system, please see the tutorial.
Keep an eye on the rules – When searching for courses make sure you are taking your entire semester schedule into consideration, such as:
- The number of credits – International students must be enrolled full-time, which is 12 – 17 credit hours.
- The pre-requisites – You must meet all pre-requisites to take a class. A co-requisite is a course you must take at the same time. You can view pre- and co-requisites in the course descriptions.
- Times – Make sure your courses don't have time conflicts with one another.
- Location – You should only be taking classes at the Main Campus, Center City or Ambler Campus. Please keep in mind that the Ambler Campus is located 50 minutes by shuttle from the Main Campus. You are not able to register for classes at the Japan campus.
Register - Once your completed study plan has been approved and submitted, you will be registered by the Global Programs Office.
