Mission of the Office of International Affairs

The Office of International Affairs, in collaboration with academic and other administrative units, is charged with leading the development and implementation of Temple’s globalization efforts. Serving as a resource to the university community on initiatives supporting the further development of global education at Temple, it brings together various constituencies and units for collaborative initiatives. International Affairs fulfills its mission in the following ways:

• Articulating a shared vision for the globalization of Temple University, promoting globalization as one of Temple’s core values, working to integrate a global perspective throughout Temple’s academic and co-curricular programs and administration.
• Providing centralized leadership for Temple’s international programs and initiatives, supporting international activities within the schools and colleges and other administrative departments.
• Overseeing the operation of university-wide international programs and global initiatives.
• Keeping abreast of national and global higher education strategies, developments and best practices, acting as an expert resource for the university, schools and colleges, faculty and administration.
• Facilitating the incorporation of international perspectives into existing and new academic programs, working closely with the Provost, deans, and faculty.
• Promoting partnerships with city, state and federal governments and multinational business communities to develop projects of mutual interest.
• Publicizing and promoting Temple’s international profile as a world-class institution of higher education internally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
• Identifying and supporting incentives to assist faculty to integrate global and cross-cultural perspectives into their teaching, research and service.
• Working in partnership with the office of admissions and other administrative and academic units to attract the highest quality international students and scholars to Temple, integrating them into campus life, fully utilizing their unique perspective to foster campus globalization.
• Engaging with alumni affairs to develop strong relationships with Temple‘s internationally based alumni.
• Partnering with Institutional Advancement, the Office of Research and Strategic Initiatives, and the schools and colleges to identify and seek private and public sources of international education funding.
• Collecting, maintaining, analyzing and distributing data about Temple’s international efforts, serving as the central office to which members of the university report information about their international activities.
