![]() Memorial AwardsThe Temple University Memorial Awards are designed to recognize full-time undergraduate students for their outstanding academic, leadership and service achievements. If you feel that you demonstrate these attributes, apply before the deadline approaches. There are several awards to apply for based on the variety of criteria. The 2009 Memorial Award Winners were selected. Check back in January 2010 for applications for the 2010 awards process.
2009 Memorial Award WinnersSol Feinstone Award. The recipients of this award are honored for their participation in, leadership of or personal accomplishment of constructive social and/or educational change within or without the University community, such change having been effected in an orderly manner within the framework of democratic principles. Awarded to Nooshin Asadpour, Senior, College of Science and Technology; Kwamina Akwa, Senior, Tyler School of Art and Anam Butt, Senior, College of Science and Technology. The Dorothy A. Seegers Memorial Award. Awarded annually in honor of Dorothy A. Seegers, who made a significant contribution to Temple from 1943 to 1979 as a student, as an employee and as an administrator. The award is given to a full-time graduating senior who has demonstrated a concern for others and has shown dedication and loyalty to Temple University exemplified as by Dorothy A. Seegers. Awarded to Nadine Mompremier, Senior, Fox School of Business. Joel M. Schafer Award. Presented to an individual, affiliated with Temple University, with financial need and a commitment for a better society for all people; i.e., one who demonstrates a social consciousness through action. Awarded to Jaclyne Hopkins, Senior, School of Communications and Theater. Adelaide and Marvin Wachman Scholarship Fund. For high academic achievement, significant participation and promise of leadership in co-curricular activities at Temple University during the freshman year. Awarded to Tetyana Ivanishena, Freshman, School of Communications and Theater and Trang T. Pham, Sophomore, Fox School of Business. Valaida S. Walker Award. This award is presented to a student in good academic standing who demonstrates University leadership as well as service to the broader community. This award is open to current sophomores and juniors. Awarded to Ahrin Gibbons, Junior, College of Liberal Arts. Lois and Leroy Kean Award. This award is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors with financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or better. The recipient of this award is honored for their academic achievement and contribution to the University community. Awarded to Kaitlin S. Baver, Senior, College of Music and Dance; My Bich Huynh, Senior, College of Liberals Arts and Melissa Thorpe, Sophomore, College of Liberal Arts.
