AMY HECHT
Amy Hecht, Associate Dean of Students
Amy Hecht serves as the Associate Dean of Students at Temple University. In this role, Amy fosters university-wide collaborations and learning to enhance the student experience. Her responsibilities also include strategic planning, assessment and evaluations, strategic planning, organizational oversight and development. In addition to working closely with the Dean of Students, Amy’s previous positions afforded her the opportunity to serve on the Student Affairs executive leadership team and work with the vice president to foster learning within the organization. In this role she launched the Division’s assessment committee and created a comprehensive program review process. She is quickly becoming an expert on organizational learning in higher education.
A professional in the field of student affairs since 2001, Amy’s positions have included consulting for her national sorority, serving as the Assistant Director for Student Activities at Cabrini College, and Assistant Dean of Students at Temple University. Amy has supervised and managed a variety of student life areas such as Greek life, leadership development, orientation, and student media.
Amy earned her bachelor’s degree at Florida State University and earned her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, where she is currently pursuing her doctorate, with a completion date of May 2010. The focus of Amy’s dissertation is on Organizational Learning in Student Affairs Organizations. She has presented on issues facing student affairs and co-presented on strategic planning in higher education. Amy’s research interests include leadership development, organizational learning and strategic planning.
