Academic Planning
8/29/2007
Message from President Hart to the Faculty
Dear Colleagues:
Welcome back! Many exciting changes and initiatives are taking place at Temple University this fall, including the arrival of our new provost, Lisa Staiano-Coico. One of her first priorities is leading a university-wide academic and strategic planning process. The Provost will be joined by Executive Vice President Clarence Armbrister and Senior Vice President Anthony Wagner who are simultaneously co-chairing an effort to produce a comprehensive facilities, campus master, and financial plan. These plans will be critical to our success in achieving our goals over the next decade and will establish a foundation for growth long into Temple's future.
Our goal is complete at least the academic portion of this planning process by the end of the year. This is an ambitious undertaking, and our success will require the commitment of representatives from across the university, including faculty, staff, students, deans, administrators, librarians, alumni, and trustees. The Provost and I have asked Faculty Senate President Robert Aiken and the Faculty Senate Steering Committee to nominate a broad array of faculty from across the University to participate on the planning committees.
Please look for information from Dr. Aiken and your Faculty Senate representative about how you can get involved. As the process and plans take shape, the Provost will begin making announcements and providing information to the entire Temple community. I hope that many of you will be willing to take part in this critical endeavor.
Sincerely,
Ann Weaver Hart
