Academic Planning

This site provides general information about Temple's academic strategic planning process.

On August 29, 2007,  President Ann Weaver Hart announced a university-wide academic and strategic planning effort to be led by Provost Staiano-Coico.   Provost Staiano-Coico solicited nominations from the Faculty Senate as well as the deans of each school and college for faculty to serve as part of the academic strategic planning effort and engaged the services of well-known planning facilitators from The Learning Alliance at University of Pennsylvania.  The Academic Planning Steering Committee began meeting in September 2007.  In October 2007, almost 100 faculty and administrators participated in roundtable discussions.

Based on the topics raised at those roundtables, the Provost and the Academic Planning Steering Committee formed nine working groups and identified four common and specialized threads to be addressed by the working groups.  Before the end of the fall semester, members of the Temple community will be invited to participate in these working groups. Each group will be asked to complete its work during the Spring semester in preparation for a second roundtable discussion to be held in late April/early May.  Following the second roundtables, Provost Staiano-Coico and the Academic Planning Steering Committee will finalize its report for presentation to President Hart by the end of the 2007-08 academic year.
