Robert T. Stroker is Dean of the Center for the Arts and Vice Provost of the Arts. The Center for the Arts includes Boyer College of Music and Dance, Tyler School of Art, and the Division of Theater, Film and Media Arts. Formerly, he was Associate Dean, Head of Music Education, and Interim Chair of the Divisions of Music and Dance at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
In addition to administrative leadership and strong teaching experience, his background includes musical performance. From 1993 to 2002, as Director of the Meadows Percussion Ensemble, he recorded on Gasparo Records.
Dr. Stroker has presented numerous papers, and performed in many workshops and master classes at international and national music conferences and festivals throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. He also served as guest conductor and consultant for the Conservatory Band of Sao Paolo, Brazil. Early in his career, he was principal percussionist with the Lansing Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University, where he also earned his Doctorate in Music Education and a Master of Music degree from Pennsylvania State University.
