Orfeo Fioretos is Assistant Professor of Political Science. He received his BA from Bennington College and his Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University in New York. Before joining Temple, he spent five years as Vilas Young Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also held research appointments at the University of California-Berkeley, Georgetown University, and Washington University in Saint Louis.
Fioretos’ research focuses on the role of international organizations in national strategies of economic modernization. He is currently completing a book entitled, Creative Reconstruction: Multilateralism and Varieties of Capitalism, 1950-2000, which examines the impact of different forms of international cooperation on national development strategies in post-war Europe. Other research topics include the sources of institutional development in multilateral institutions, the role of international organizations in promoting institutional capacity in developing countries, and the political economy of transnational economic law.
