I studied sociology because I believe in the power of ideas to change the world we live in. My main sociological interest is in the study of politics: how political regimes are established, how and why they change, how governments rule, and how social change shapes the political process. Sociology gave me the analytical tools and insight to study these issues and the practical skills to participate in the solution of social problems. I regularly teach courses in political sociology, comparative sociology, and on Latin America.
